Spring Is The Time To Plant Raspberries In Utah! June-bearing or Everbearing . . .

I have finally decided what variety of raspberries to plant.  I was torn between a June-bearing variety and an everbearing* variety.
 - June-bearing raspberries flower and produce fruit in early summer and then that's it.
 - Everbearing raspberries flower and produce fruit in early summer and then again in September until the frost.
I decided that I want all of the raspberries to come on at once so I can have enough to make jam - lots of jam!  So I have ordered 10 bare-root raspberry plants of a variety called "Latham".  They should arrive at the end of the month.  Maybe I will plant a few everbearing "Heritage" in another area of the yard just to do a comparison!
Here is another article written by Larry Sagers about growing raspberries in Utah.

*spellcheck seems to want to change everbearing to overbearing.  Raspberries are never overbearing; they are among the most delicious of all fruits and there is no such thing as too many raspberries!  We'll talk about zucchini when we talk about overbearing plants!
